LORDS CRICKET GROUND

Client: ISG
Architect: Wilkinson Eyre
Structural Engineer: BuroHappold
Contract Value:£4.5M
Location: Lords Cricket Ground, St Johns Wood

After completing the complex demolition of the existing Compton and Edrich stands at Lords, the J Coffey Construction groundworks team got to work installing 100 pile caps, 1.5km of deep drainage, 400t of reinforcement, pouring 3500m3 of concrete and removing 24000m3 of excavated material.

The team were faced with different challenges, including an existing Victorian Thames water sewer running through the centre of the stands, significant tree protection and holding down bolts weighing 1000kg! With an excellent game plan, we successfully drove the project across the line to ensure work on the stands at the “The Home of Cricket” could commence.
