We provided GRIP 5 engineering on Crossrail on the north-east surface section of the Crossrail route, between Stratford in East London and Shenfield in Essex.
We were co-located in a central office forming a ‘One team’ project approach with client, NR engineers, other contractors and the design consultant Atkins.
The contract included major enhancement at Romford and Ilford as well as improvements at stations including Forest Gate, Goodmayes, Harold Wood, Gidea Park, Chadwell Heath and Brentwood.

Key works for our project team was the step free access at Forest Gate, comprising enabling works, cable management, drainage, troughing, 3 new lifts, structural steel staircases and canopies, platform refurbishment, hard landscaping and gauging to create safer foot traffic to address higher capacity trains.
Other major infrastructure improvements works undertaken by our project team included the upgrade of existing line of route, railway systems and civil support for overhead electrification equipment as well as extra train stabling capacity and turn back facilities.

Structural bases for signalling equipment including PSP, MEP and FSPs etc.
RC retaining walls, minor earth works and micro piling (stabilisation)
Structural concrete i.e. REB bases
Safe access, walking routes, access gantries (supply and install)
Hard landscaping

Train services were maintained (works planned cooperatively to mitigate operational impact)
Project team instinctively rescheduled works based on approved drawings and available access/possession cooperatively with client and other contractors – mitigating 4 week delay to programmes critical path.
